Austin, TX – (May 14, 2007) - Database-Brothers, Inc. (DBI), a highly specialized company focused exclusively on database performance and auditing, today announced an offer of free license upgrades to current BMC Software SmartDBA® DBXray for DB2 Universal Database and SmartDBA Database Performance for DB2 Universal Database maintenance customers who migrate to DBI replacement solutions. The DBI replacement offerings, unveiled at the IDUG conference last week, Brother-Eagle™ and Brother-Panther™ will share many of the more popular features and functions found in BMC’s SmartDBA distributed database solutions, including a familiar user interface. In addition, DBI is incorporating deeper analytics and performance capabilities into its tools to provide customers with greater insight into performance degradation and expedited problem resolution.
“In an effort to protect our customer’s investments, BMC has worked closely with DBI over the past year to establish a replacement solution for distributed database customers that will meet their performance needs,” said Dayon Kane, director, BMC Software. “BMC is the leader in Database Development and Management Tools market according to IDC, and we are fully committed to providing our customers with quality DS and DB2 products to meet their needs. We believe DBI will work to enhance these leading solutions. DBI’s knowledge of the performance market and their strong vision for the future will support the long-term requirements of these customers.”
With the introduction of Brother-Eagle and Brother-Panther, DBI is introducing many improvements, some of which include simplified installation and configuration, improved multi-partition analysis, autonomic monitoring, comprehensive history, and trend reporting with correlated change events.
Today, DBI is also introducing Brother-Thoroughbred™. Separate from the migration upgrade offerings, Brother-Thoroughbred helps customers determine if a performance problem is related to a database problem. Additionally, Brother-Thoroughbred provides a solution to a problem that has historically troubled IT organizations: determining if database response time service-level agreements are being met. Brother-Thoroughbred solves both of these business challenges.
“DBI is 100 percent committed to the database performance and auditing space, and we have a proven track record of success,” said Scott Hayes, president and CEO of DBI. “Our specialized focus and unique insight into BMC’s customer’s needs, gained through our collaborative efforts and the addition of a number of former BMC employees to the DBI team, makes DBI the best choice for customers considering their migration options.”
