This metric shows the number of connections to the database that are currently active. Brother-Eagle presents this metric as a delta between collection intervals so that you can determine if DB2 is getting busier or becoming bored.
It is common for a database to have several concurrent connections at any one time, but usually only a small percentage will be active at any one time. If, by chance, several users execute queries at the same time, and if CPU and memory resources are unavailable to support peak demands, then performance degradation can occur.
Brother-Eagle will indicate a warning if the number of concurrently active connections reaches 40 and an alert status if the number of active connections reaches 100.
