Brother-Panther® DB2 Performance Advice:
SSD Weight

SSD Weight: Bigger is Better

On Brother-Panther's Tablespace Performance display, you will see a performance metric "SSD Weight" provided that you have not hidden or excluded this column from view.

Solid State Disk (SSD) storage provides greater performance benefit to random I/O than sequential I/O. The SSD Weight factor is computed based on the randomness of the I/O performed to the tablespace (SRP), the I/O latency response time of the tablespace (ORMS), and the I/O activity levels and costs.

Brother-Panther users should sort on the SSD Weight column in descending sequence. If a limited amount of Solid State Disk is available, the tablespaces having the highest SSD Weights are those that would benefit the most from placement onto SSD.
