Brother-Eagle® DB2 Performance
Advice: Log Used Percent

This metric shows the percentage of log space used relative to the amount of log space allocated. It is possible for log space used to exceed 100% if the database is using secondary logs.

• Brother-Eagle will indicate a warning if 70% of log space is being used.
• Brother-Eagle will indicate an alert if more than 80% of log space is being used.
• If you observe either a warning or an alert, consider increasing the amount of primary log space.

Performance degradation can occur when secondary logs are used. There is overhead in allocating and formatting the secondary log files. For best performance, primary log space should be allocated in sufficient quantity such that the allocation of secondary logs are unnecessary.
